Yesterday was lovely. gorgeous! Spring before spring. Promise of longer days and shorter, warmer nights and, above all, colour! Colour and light. The day was well chosen and the weather forecast was right. We had a lovely day of broken, light cloud, sunshine and the best display of aconites I’ve ever seen. Little Ponton Hall is open only under the National Garden Scheme to raise money for charity for this one weekend. What an opportunity it was.
The snowdrops and aconites were the absolute stars of the show, and left me breathless. Each time the sun popped back out from the intermittent clouds I grabbed another opportunity for a shot. I get tired quite quickly, but managed two hours of shooting with a short tea break in between. I’ve posted a few of the results here. I hope you can see how gorgeous it was, and I hope it encourages you to get out there every chance you get to enjoy what nature can do for the human spirit. Don’t forget your camera!

Glad to hear from you. I was beginning to gather a little worry cloud overhead, but this evaporated it. And what a great looking place you posted about. It’s stunning for me in the bottom shot how much the light was colored by the blooms. Do you see the yellow cast in the trees like I do?

Thanks my friend. Sorry to have worried anyone. Just had another bout of poorliness but survive to see our glorious spring beginning to unfold. Yes, the whole day was lit with sunlight and yellow flowers. After the winter and the cabin fever I’ve been feeling it was fantastic!

Thank you for sharing this gorgeous sight -so luscious and a brief respite from the winter blahs. The temperatures here in Alberta are going up and down like a yo yo, which causes melting then freezing and lots of ice – the stores sell out of salt just as quick as the shipments arrive. Today is a beautiful day, wam temperatures and sunny and some of that fine ice that crunches under your feet but so nice to see the blooms-thank you! Jane

Thank you Jane. We had very cold weather early this year. Snowfall in December is rare for us. But it would seem mother nature is trying to redress the balance and giving us a little early respite and some beautiful sites. I hope spring catches up with you soon.
